Vine Transit to offer Free Rides Fridays for Non-Perishable Food Donations Through December

Jump into the Holiday Spirit with NVTA & Vine Transit: Food Drives, Parades & more!

NAPA — Vine Transit and Napa Valley Transportation Authority are celebrating the holiday season by giving back to the community. Beginning on Friday, November 26 and running every Friday through December, Vine Transit will offer free rides to passengers who donate non-perishable food items.

Items accepted for the #FreeFridayFoodDrive promotion could include canned soups, boxed cereals, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, and canned meats such as tuna fish, chicken and corned beef. Each Vine Transit bus will have boxes for donations – just jump on, donate and ride. Riders who tag NVTA or Vine Transit on Facebook and share a picture of their donation will be entered into drawing for a free month-long bus pass.

Riders should NOT bring frozen food (no turkeys), glass jars and expired items; riders offering expired food will not be allowed to ride for free.

Find the Holiday Bus: Dec. 19 - 26
Vine Transit will also offer free rides this December on a specially decorated Holiday Bus. The bus will be rotated to different routes from December 19 – 26. Passengers on the holiday bus will ride for free.

NVTA and Vine Transit are pleased to join the annual Napa holiday parade on Saturday, Nov. 26. Visit downtown Napa at 5 p.m. to see one of the agency’s new ADA paratransit vehicles. Members of the NVTA staff will be walking and riding bicycles alongside the paratransit vehicle to encourage more active transportation in Napa Valley.

Closed For Thanksgiving
Vine Transit will not be in service Thanksgiving Day. On Black Friday (11/25) the fixed-route system will run a “Saturday” schedule. Routes 21, 25 and 29 will operate a normal schedule.
