Public Comment Period - SR29 Bridge Rail Replacement Proposed Negative Declaration

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the lead agency under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is pleased to report that the Initial Study (IS) with Proposed Negative Declaration (ND) for State Route (SR) 29 Bridge Rail Replacement Project in Napa County, CA, from post mile (PM) 16.48 to PM 19.04, has been approved and is being made available to the public.
Caltrans is proposing to replace existing bridge rails on three bridges along SR 29. The proposed project would also include reconstruction of bridge wing walls and widening within the project limits to accommodate standard shoulder widths. Caltrans aims to replace the existing bridge rails on Dry Creek Bridge (Identification [ID] 21-0014) at PM 16.48; Perfume Creek Bridge (ID 21-0051) at PM 17.81; and California Drive Undercrossing Bridge (ID 21-0047) at PM 19.04. The purpose of this project is to upgrade bridge rails at these three bridges on SR 29 in order to meet current crash and safety standards. Meeting these standards would promote the protection of the traveling public by enhancing corridor safety and the reliability of the bridge rails.
The draft environmental document is available to download for review on the Caltrans environmental document website:
