Watch for New Signal

NAPA COUNTY – Caltrans and its local stakeholders will activate a new traffic signal light on State Route 29 (SR-29) at Grayson Avenue in St. Helena.

The new traffic signal light is expected to be activated the week of Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Once the signal is activated, all motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will be required to make a full and complete stop when approaching a red light. (Note: Caltrans initially stated the light would be activated Nov. 2, but later pushed the schedule back.)

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are reminded to travel through this intersection near St. Helena High School with extra caution as this is a time of adjustment for everyone traveling the area.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will also have extra patrols in the area after the signal activation.

The new signal light is part of the SR-29 Channelization Project and was completed through a joint effort between the City of St. Helena and Caltrans.

Major construction of the Channelization Project was completed last month. The project rehabilitates the pavement on SR-29 on and near St. Helena, provides a continuous 2-way left turn lane and reconstructs the bike path adjacent to SR-29 near Whitehall Lane.
